I can only be who I am

I am grateful
To life and death
To love and Strife
To the final breath
To the pain of death, birth, and rebirth,

I am grateful to souls seeking the beyond
To those who guard towers of knowledge
Where the maidens are trapped by mothers

I am grateful to the Spaces
Where mortal engines do not roar continually
And places where my fear can’t find me

I am grateful to doctors returning my calls
And the times I’ve seen where ring bearers Have no fatal flaws

I’m grateful to truth and beauty
Guiding me to the path of infinity.
Where death and the darkness Have no hold on me.

One That is Two

By Malinda Meadows

A once stalwart tree

That had the job of raising me

Wanted sunshine and rain

Not constant misery

He sought solace in the south

In the comfort of her mouth

If you replace mouth with men

You’ll see where the branches end

and begin

The men visiting

but never meant to stay

Never meant to put roots down anyway

And now my mind whispers

is this the way

always to be the vehicle of love

And not the passenger?

I thought so until i met a man so kind

Who traversed my entire soul and mind

Who actually sought and seeks to find

The above and the below

With a love sublime

that doesn’t seem conditional or temporary

With arms that love to hold me

And provide sanctity.

From the cradle to the present

My heart has longed for you

For the union of the one that is two.

Ghosts in my head

By Malinda Meadows

Still feeling your arms
around me at the hospital
The pinnacle of empathy
Which you’ve shown in spades
But pain made by little things
Small facts of consequence
News of the titan, Narcissus
Come to my ears
And then traipse away
While wounded men make play of life
And say I love love love you
But forget that I hunger too
For oneness most of all.
For a pall mall, for an embrace
A kiss upon the face
To wipe away the sadness in my eyes
That happened when my dad
made me realize
I will die.
My mortality. .
Time is finite for our plans.
We must cling to what matters most
Not peripheral demand

Lovesick (or What it means to be Ill)

By Malinda Meadows

1:15 AM
And I’m born again
By the cum and him
Radiating in our skin
From head to toe
Never knowing
Which seeds to sow
Never knowing the word no
Or lack of places to go

As one soul alit with fire glow
When we rise again

Things to see with double eyes
From the stance
Of all we realize
Beneath the disguise.

But now the night tainted dark
Is alight with snow
Beckons from the window
And here I am with you
In the season of love
Thinking of things above
Of feather fingers
And where they rove

I kiss your lips as you sleep
Awake with the thoughts I keep
While memories swim
About my skin
And there again

the future flashes
Love and love and finally ashes
As all that is me
Will one day be history
A dream dreamt
then cast upon the sea
Adrift amongst the dreamers dreams
And the military slogan hits me
Are we all that we can be?

Camera obscura

By Malinda Meadows

The camera is an eye
For a human mouth
Who speaks of things uncertain,
Visage clothed in doubt.
The camera shutter shudders
And instantly
The present turns into a memory
Time slinks by
A slinky or a string
Spiraling and coiling
to the place it once began.
In every smiling face
The golden ratio
Repeating again.
Fibonacci sequences
Connect fibers of reality
With golden threads of lace
That just barely veil the truth
The camera can’t efface.

So We’ll Go No More a Roving

By Lord Byron (George Gordon)

So, we’ll go no more a roving
   So late into the night,
Though the heart be still as loving,
And the moon be still as bright.

For the sword outwears its sheath,
And the soul wears out the breast,
And the heart must pause to breathe,
   And love itself have rest.

Though the night was made for loving,
And the day returns too soon,
Yet we’ll go no more a roving
By the light of the moon.

Aurora

By Malinda Meadows

She dropped like a fish into a pond
Hidden from the crying man
We’re being judged he said
When the girl with the name of light
Became one with tao
Flowing into water
A million blossomed tears
singing the lotus hymn
As the evacuee fleed from my body.

Memory shifting to
A four legged friend
Mistakenly named the truth
Of enlightenment
Crushed under the leg of man.
My crime of attachment
Speaking with her purple tongue.
Nothing coming from nothing
And to nothing back again.
Liquid blossoms offered
To sail them home.
Smoke offerings for the dead
Where you made your
First and last appearance.
Nothing to nothing, amen.

Tapa within

By Malinda Meadows

Tapering down a maze of mirrors
Each one reflecting me
I see a million figures
Dancing in the dust
Of golden filegree
Dark mother of the spiral
Alone in every one
The tapa burning brightly
On songs that I have sung
Voices I have lilted
And changes that have rung
Like great holy bells echoing
For the call of prayer
Like twigs bound with string
And a promise
Dancing in fire.

Ah! Sunflower

By William Blake

Ah Sun-flower! weary of time,
Who countest the steps of the Sun:
Seeking after that sweet golden clime
Where the travellers journey is done.

Where the Youth pined away with desire,
And the pale Virgin shrouded in snow:
Arise from their graves and aspire,
Where my Sun-flower wishes to go.

Fealty to Destiny

By Malinda Meadows

Home is here
The mob of voices cheer
And the expiration date for kings
Soon draws near

In the now
A snafu soon was spread
To prey on victims
Feeble in the head
Oh no, no, no, now this.

She’s been gone
Oh so many years
Iniquity and sin they disappear
As destiny approaches.
What she has said some may fear
But it happens anyway.

A long time ago a ransom paid,
A ransom hard to find
But history will record
How many are her friends or are her foes
The timeline spidering; so it goes
Until she arrives.
